When a child is born it is lovingly cleansed from the unclean residue of the Birth process and wrapped in a new clean blanket - ready to begin the journey in this World.

In keeping, when a person has left their body at the end of this Life they too should be lovingly "cleansed" of all worldly "unclean residue" (such as: clothing, belts, zippers, shoes, wallets, etc.) all left behind and the body purified for the transition out of this World.

First the body and hair should be washed thoroughly with simple soap and pure water including the inside of the mouth with water and then rinsed with water, and dried.Finally a purification of natural herbal scented KINKARACO -Green Burial Wash is applied over the entire body.

Nothing should be placed on the feet and all jewelry removed and given to the family or friends.
- All dentures and removable bridges, etc. should be removed from the mouth.
- All contact lenses or glasses removed from the eyes.
- All hearing aids, earrings, etc. removed from the ears.

The body is now naturally purified and ready to be placed inside of the KINKARACO shroud- either free of all garments or in brand new - never been worn - 100% Cotton under garments. This preparation can be done by the family in the home or at the Funeral Home with the helpof the Funeral Director or by the Funeral Director alone.

This practice is very ancient and very Holy no matter what your Faith. This process can be accompanied by silent or spoken Prayers or Mantras, singing of hymns or any special tunes.

For the Environmentalist or the Agnostic this is a practice devoid of unhealthy chemicals, glues,toxins or violating invasive procedures which allows only Organic matter into the Earth without metals, or any synthetic fibers.

We at KINKARACO have found through the last 4 years of personally experiencing Green Burial that this preparation - the shrouding of the body ,the involvement of the family in both the lowering and covering of the shrouded body with the Earth themselves is extremely moving.
